Lateral and Vertical "play" can add up to more than either with a drop/lift hitch. I agree that if we eliminate Lateral, the Vertical shouldn't matter much. Interestingly, RM's Quiet Hitch works on Vertical, unless we can mount it 90* from their illustration.
