Those are all fine ideas, the roof, the roadside assistance etc. Going to print the comments and take with me ;-)
I found a 1999 American Dream 40' with 55K miles in Florida, what a beautiful looking coach that is. Quite a bit more unless I could negotiate it down. I know nothing about that brand.
The American coach line is a higher end product and very well built with high end appliances. I would encourage you to strongly consider it if it meets your needs and the price is right.
As a side line, I think I remember you saying you needed to measure any coach you buy to be sure it fit in your 40' building. I believe any 40' unit is gong to be too long. My 38' Bus actually measured 39' 4" so I'd think any of the 40' units will be close to 41.5'-42' long. I think you can go to the Tiffin web site and pull up the spec's for their coaches although I don't know how far back you can go.
As far as height is concerned, my Bus had to have a certain amount of air in the bags before I could release the air emergency brake. AND, as long as the engine was running, the bags were being pumped up if they we below ~110 lbs. Due to this situation, I'm not sure you can dump half, or some of the air to lower the coach and then drive into/out of you building.
I tossed this length idea around, the Tiffin measures 39'6" per the salesman, not counting the ladder which could go between the beams. If I angle it, I would be OK for the time being until I make an extension out the back. Obviously I would rather not have to do that, however, if this coach turns out to be as nice as it looks I might dicker a bit more and go for it. The one I really, really wanted is the Monaco Diplomat I looked at but the water leak that ruined the ceiling in the bathroom and bedroom scared me away. I did dump the air in the Monaco when I drove it and was able to move it, however, a person has to hold the dump button down or they build back up.
At this point I need to simply go look and take the emotion out of it. I'm becoming both frustrated and overanxious. The perfect combination for a mistake to occur.
Thanks for the comments. Wish I had someone with knowledge that could look at a couple in Florida for me.
