FormerBoater, your name implies a direction the admiral and I are headed.
Today proved interesting. The first visit to inspect the BUS39 was in the afternoon after a busy morning, so I had rushed a bit. The de-lamination in the bedroom was worse than I recall and on both sides, in the same area, below the windows. I stuck my fid completely through, perhaps 2", to I assume, the back of the fiberglass or the outside layer of ply.
The dealer told me that this is usually caused by people leaving the windows open. There is no trace of water stain on the ceiling or anywhere in between, just de-lamination where the wall meets the floor and up several inches on the driver side, less on the passenger. It runs a good foot forward and aft of the windows. He also stated that Allegro hands their walls, same as Dutch Star, so the area could be cut out and repaired. Is this true? I can't find anything on the internet relative to the construction of a 1999 Bus.
I really missed the mark on the roof, although the lighting was much better today enabling a better inspection. I saw numerous bubbles in the rubber roof, patches covering some of them. It's shot! Dealer stated he and the service manager walked it and that it was ok for some time yet, I disagreed with him and told him so. He is going to see what he can do price-wise for a new roof.
Otherwise, the thing looks good. The basement and all the outside glass is in nice shape. The driver door, which I love, works fine and did not appear to leak.
As far as the side radiator is concerned, I can see a definite difference in access as compared to the rear, however, I read somewhere that the side units tend to corrode more quickly from salt as they suck it in more readily in that location. Not sure what is fact in that regard.
