We just sold our Scamp 19 foot TT and are looking for a Pleasure Way Excel TS. We have found a 2008 with V8 and 40,000 miles for $52,000 which we drove and really liked. It has a custom cover which is nice. I have also found a 2007 V10 with less than 10,000 miles and priced at about $60,000. They also include a large storage box that fits on the bike receiver and some other items. The V8 seller will probably come down maybe $1000. I haven't actually done any dealing with the person who owns the V10 except to ask if they had any wiggle room on the price and they said only a little. Both of these units appear to be in great condition.My questions for this group are:1. What do you think would be a "fair" price for each of these? I know that is a difficult question so I guess I'm asking what is the true value?2. What are the positives and negatives of the V8 and V10, other than the power difference and price?We do quite a bit of travel, including 3 trips from Mississippi to Alaska in the last 5 years. We are planning a trip to the Eastern Canadian Provinces this summer.Any advice or information that you can provide about these two units will be greatly appreciated.

If you're going to put a lot of miles on your unit, the V10 with only 10,000 miles has more of a ceiling left, although that is pretty low for a unit that old. Sometimes too little use is more of a problem than regular use, so check thoroughly.

V10 is a proven work horse with the torque to get things moving.

I had 2004 and 2012 V-8. Excels and a 2007 V-10. MPG is about the same, the V10 has more power, an extra gear in the transmission, I believe the 07 is a 4-speed overdrive and the V-8 was a 3 speed overdrive, you will have a much greater towing capacity with the V-10, and Lower rpm at highway speeds. They are also much better climbing mountain area roads. Price wise I think they are both too high, but they are hard to find. Finally the Excels are great units with minimal problems, well constructed Pleasure-way quality.Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for all the responses. I have spent hours searching the internet and although those prices that I quoted seem quite high to me, they are comparable to the asking prices that I am seeing. I will try to do some negotiating and I would really rather have the v10, but the price just may be too high for my taste.

Keep those responses coming and if you know of any low mileage Pleasure Way Excel TS for sale that are less than $50,000, I'd appreciate hearing about them. Since we put so many miles on our travel units, I really would like to get a low mileage one to start with.

Check on RVTrader & Craigslist. There are some on RVTrader, don't know for sure about the mileage.

The Ford v10 in my 2005 PW Excel has a tow rating of 5,000 lbs which I believe is double the rating for the v8. Also the v10 has a 5spd trans with a tow haul mode and is a lot beefier than the 4spd trans in the v8 model. I recall people complaining about transmission troubles with their 4spd trans in the v8 equipped rvs. No doubt in my mind, I'd get the v10 which has a lot more power and gets approximately the same mpg.

Also think long and hard about the TS versus the TD model which has the twin beds whereas the TS has the folding one. People complain about the hard and lumpy beds in these PW models. The later models have memory foam in them which helps but is not always the answer. On my twin bed model I had custom innerspring mattresses made and I leave the PW cushions at home and the improvement is like night and day.
