- BrianinMichiganExplorerI know because of some delamination on the back corner of mine that there is a steel corner frame. I could not get the original corner trim screws to catch any wood but found if I used 3" screws it grabbed into some metal. Had to predrill of course.
- Toxed2lossExplorerI'm not doing it for either reason, Mowermech. I needed an older model RV because it takes at least 15 years for the toxins to outgas from the main materials. A newer one would be far too toxic! I stripped out the petroleum based linoleum and carpet and replaced it with strand bamboo. I replaced the cab carpet with organic wool. I've sealed all the other toxic hard surfaces and replaced all the window materials/curtains with organic cotton. Same with the bed. I'm remodeling it so it operates as a Medical Isolation Unit, and accommodates my disabilities. Mine is perfect for my needs. The investment is in health, not dollars. Its saving my life.
- Deano56Explorerwell, you got me guessing with a statement like that. Where are your sources for 15 years to outgas? That seems like a far stretch
- Toxed2lossExplorerI'm an expert on Toxic Injuries and environmental poisons. I have multiple certifications in Environmental Toxins from the ATSDR and letters of commendation from US Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, CDC Director Thomas Frieden, and ATSDR Director Chris Portier for my work. I have hundreds of thousands of hours of research into it. I deal with other experts in the field, and read their material on a regular basis. Thats how I know.
- billsenickExplorerExcuse us for asking :S
- Toxed2lossExplorerNot a problem. You asked, I told you the truth. Should I have pretended to be something other than I am?
- SuperiorBoundExplorerWe could probably learn much from you. 15 years? That is a long time, longer than I would have thought.

Hundreds of thousands? - 200,000 / 24 hours = 8,333 days / 365 = 22.8 years.
If you did research 12 hours a day EVERYDAY of a year that would = 45.6 years.
Why would you think someone would disagree with your 15 year statement? - mowermechExplorer

Then I guess it is reasonable to assume that your home, your vehicles, your appliances, and your clothing are all at least 15 years old.
You have my sympathy. It can't be easy being that medically challenged.
Please educate us, exactly what toxic chemicals are you concerned about? - Toxed2lossExplorerBefore I got poisoned I would have thought the same thing, if I even thought about it at all. I had to learn to save my life. What I found was horrifying. The US has the least consumer protection of all the developed countries, spends the most world wide for health care and ranks 70th in health and wellness amoung 120 nations. (the Social Progress Report 2014) Chronic disease is our leading cause of death. (CDC) Some of the US's leading Doctors, including Russell Blaylock, (The Health Case For Reforming the Toxic Substances Control Act 2010) have said "All chronic health conditions are either caused or exacerbated by dietary and environmental toxins." I'd be happy to share some things that would benefit RVers. I can give you links that talk about the toxins in cars. Our RV interiors are made of much the same materials. A few easy techniques can reduce the amount of toxins dramatically. If you're interested, I'll share.
Here's a link on formaldehyde from someone many of you may know,
http://www.roamingtimes.com/formaldehyde/Index.aspx
While the worst, not all, formaldehyde fumes outgas in 15 years, give or take, anything made of petroleum outgasses toxins until it completely disintegrates, like foam, carpet, vinyl and plastic. Here's a short industry article that identifies the main sources, http://www.thehogring.com/2013/03/02/china-begins-battle-against-toxic-car-interiors/
Is anyone interested in incorporating least toxic methods in their remodel?
