Power Gear Leveling Jacks

I am having trouble with my Power Gear Leveling Jacks. When trying to retract the jacks, I got an error - left front was the problem jack. All other jacks were partially up. I tried again to raise jacks and all except the left front would come up about 1-2 inches then errors again. After multiple attempts, I was able to get three jacks all the way up. The left front brake was removed and the jack manually retracted. The brake looked corroded just like the photo on the website so I ordered and replaced the brake on the left front jack. Now when I attempt to lower the jacks, I get an error indicating that the left front is down. Does anyone have any suggestions. Obviously with the jacks up, I cannot check or clean the magnets.

  • The new brake assembly comes with new boots, as stated before seal the tops with a Silicone that is compatible with the rubber boot and the wire lead in and use dielectric grease on the wire connections.. I had them repaired under warranty five times in about three years. Until I got tired and also, didn't want to pay a shop to repair(cheapo)...
  • If shear pin was broken you would hear spinning sound and jack would fall to the ground. Here's a link that has been posted a couple of times on a lot of good information concerning electric power gear jacks

(The last couple of pages is the progression to the solution of seal, seal, and seal some more)

Fifty pages is a lot, but to sum it up. You need to seal the jack to prevent water intrusion to the brake. This is the boot and the top of the jack casing, as my jack brakes have failed I have removed the jack and sealed it completely. Until I completed this process the system could be very frustrating. So far with the jacks sealed they have worked flawlessly, now I have probably jinx myself. Good luck
  • Dtgunner,
Thanks for the info I lowered the left rear and cleaned the magnet, same for right rear. Now the problem moved to the right front. I removed the boot and it looks the same as the left that I replaced. I am now ordering three more and will replace the other three. Is there anything that can be put on the brake to help with the corrosion. Also, how would I know if I damaged or broke a shear pin?
    Thanks for your help
  • ALL jacks will need to be down appox. 4to6". If you don't you will be replacing shear pins(don't ask how I know). You can do this by using a 12v battery or a good charger. Then try to reset the system and raise the jacks on auto retract. Just to let you know if one is bad, the others are on their way. I ordered parts from Fleetwood and found them the cheapest on Power Gear parts.
