For us the DESULF really only comes into play when we are camping for extended times and do many 50% to 90% Charge states on the battery bank. After 12-14 times we start noticing the battery performance start falling off - i.e. not holding charge state as long as before...
For the usual 3-4 days camping off the power grid usually doesnt effect the battery bank performance and getting longer charge periods right away gets us back to normal...
Our PD9260C smart mode converter/charger does a 15 minute DESULF charge mode every 21 hours I think the specs says...
Disconnecting the batteries from your current converter/charger would be all you would need to do to perform the DESULF charge mode from an external charger connected directly to the batteries.
My battery bank wiring using three BATTERY SWITCHES is sometimes deemed overkill by others but sure comes in handy when you need to do battery maintenance when camping. I can use one-all-or none depending on my battery switch settings.
