Price for 2016 motorhome

Looking to buy my first Class A Diesel Pusher. I'm looking at 2016 Thor Tuscany XTE 40 BX which MSRP at $307,269. What would be a good price off sticker, like 33-37%. Just wondering how far they will come down. Thanks

I won't agree with those saying no big discount on a '16. We did 30% off the new one and $5K over NADA Trade for our trade-in when we ordered our last one. That was in June of '07 on a new '08.

Just because it's new doesn't mean they won't discount.

    X2 Bruce Brown

If they won`t listen to 30%discount Walk away
  • I'm one of those that own a "pig with lipstick"... I've had far fewer problems with my '14 Tuscany 40RX than I've ever had from any RV that I've owned from popups, bumper pulls to 5th wheels. Thor had some transition problems from Damon to Thor, but, mine at any rate is worth every penny I paid for it. Freightliner XCR chassis with 60 degree turn, 450 HP/1250 torque Cummins ISL...every option in the book for that year. Granted, I'm not familiar with XTE version, but, I'll keep my 40RX and I'd do it over if I had to.

As far as discount? A lot depends on the dealer. Some dealers will balk at much of a discount on the newest models on the lot, and 16's are just that. They haven't sat long enough for the dealer to want to turn them over and they are thinking that some folks will pay a premium to own a '16 since 2015 is barely half over. Other dealers will take a deal just to move those expensive coaches. If it is what you want, make your best offer...the worst they can do is say "no" and they may come back with a counter offer that is close and still something that you can live with. The important thing is to keep your head and walk away if you can't get a price that has "value" to you and "value to you" can't be stated as a black and white percentage. Whether it be a Tuscany or any other brand. A "perfect match" in floor plan and features is surely worth a few more bucks than driving a "hard bargain" on something that is lacking in that "perfect coach".

Here we go with the Thor bashing again - by folks who don't own one. Scwintek slides are used by a lot of manufacturers. I remember seeing a few threads where Winnie slides failed too. Fixes were incorporated into the design and I haven't seen a failed slide thread in months. .

Effy, it's not that I'm bashing Thor, I agree with you, the manufacturers you have listed have problems as well. My opinion is that $300,000 is a lot of money to throw at a poorly built depreciating asset. That is a fact, motorhomes for the most part are built pretty flimsy. They lose value like crazy and for many middle income earners especially younger families, they could/should put their money into some better investment opportunities.

I'm saddened how quickly these rv's rot just after a few years, but the payments stay the same for the majority of those who finance and get locked into something they cannot afford. Having owned my Rv(which I love and would buy again) for about a year I know how much it costs to enjoy it, boy is it expensive! I'm just glad I bought it later in life and can afford it, 20 years ago this same experience really could have curtailed my retirement portfolio.

    Just my two cents.

For that kind of money you might be able to get a 2015 Entegra Aspire, as the 2016's are just about to come out..A 2 yr warranty and unparalled support and customer service...along with a side radiator...I have had first hand dealings with Entegra and a dealer and Entegra will be the next new one.

    Another excellent choice.

IMO Comfort Drive is what sets Newmar apart from Entegra - other than that I'd put those 2 in the same sentence when discussing quality build and engineering. Those 2 have a lot in common when it comes to building design.
  • I purchased a 2015 Tiffin on it's way to the 2015 RV show in Pomona discounted 25%. There were lots of reasons for the discount (none of them being family) just they couldn't complete the previous deal (they crashed the coach before delivery). Anyway 25% appears to be a good feel good number.
I won't disparage Thor, but after long careful inspection and research I purchased Tiffin.
