When it comes to floor plans, my wife and I have found a dinette is an absolute must. Not only is a good place to eat a meal, it also provides a place to work on our computers (we are both writers). And in the evening, it makes into a comfy bed (assuming you carry 4" memory foam pads with you.)
Our first rig was
THIS THING for 24 years, it's floor plan resembling that BT Cruiser double couch conversion bed. It didn't take but 1/2 of our first long trip to sleep on the conversion bed together and keep it that way. The cab-over bed was not for us, so we reserved it for other things, including kids. Converting the bed daily was simply painful with sheets and all so we kept it a bed that we climbed over from the front cab area. We lived without a dinette except on very rare occasion.
When it came time to replace that old rig, we wanted everything to be full-time....the dinette and bed included....no more monkey business. Our rig today meets the requirements (garage requirement too) and we are very happy campers. The only complaint is that our permanent bed is a bit hard to get in and out from. But it does work. The bed stays a bed, and the dinette is always ready. The bonus is a 3rd captain seat which makes a very nice easy chair for one person to take it easy. During rest time, the other person is on a computer at the dinette, or maybe laying on the bed in back.
BTW: Our dinette cushions and back rest have memory foam which makes it very comfortable for sitting or sleeping....nice when one person gets sick during a trip and needs to sleep alone for a couple nights.
For Reference, Here Is Our Floorplan. It adds 2'-6" to the floorplan above, but everything is always ready to use.
