Price of Dometic A/C Heat Pump

Just trying to get a figure on a Dometic A/C Hest Pump 13.500 BTU low profile. for a 2002 Endeavor. Don't know if that is the problem yet, waiting on a tech to show up now, wanted to get a ball park figure of the unit installed. Thanks Roy

  • When our 13.5 a/c-HP went out, we upgraded to the high efficiency or whatever they call the just short of 15k model low profile penguin. On-line the unit & new circuit board to work off our 5 button Tstat was $1276.25 delivered to the house. An additional $12.52 for gaskets from Newmar and husband installed it.

The biggest challenge was getting the new one up there, but husband is a very creative guy.
  • I bought a Dometic 13.5 k BTU A/C heat pump (non ducted)this summer (bedroom unit). Not the low profile and it was around $1050 installed. I think the low pro was $200 more than the standard.

Probably $1000 to $1500. The NEW Penguins (last 2 years) are NOT compatible with your 5 button wall tstat. You will have to purchase a 12 to 5 button conversion kit also to make a new unit operate with your 5 button tstat. ALL new Penguins have the 12 button or the Single Zone control board mounted already. You cannot order a Penguin with NO control kit. The conversion kit can cost anywhere from $90 to $130. Doug

Probably looking at about $13 to $1500 + installation. My A/C was freezing up and blowing ckt breakers. Cost me $40 to get educated about leaving vent open on MH from RV service repair.:B

Who charged you $40 for THAT wrong Info???? IF you have a Unit that has a wall tstat, they CANNOT freeze up if the Freeze sensor is working and installed correctly. ALL AC/HP units have a freeze sensor if you have a wall tstat.
