It sounds like most of your problems are minor. Very annoying but easily repaired.
Yes your refer is defrosting when the temp raises to 40, thats normal.
The slide out issue is a Major concern and I would be in touch directly with FR and get it repaired ASAP. If you have air coming in you will have water coming in.
