If I remember right, when the Jack is installed, you DO NOT use the power supply/amplifier that came with the Jack if your coach already has an amplifier system for the original crank up antenna. I mention this because you mentioned turning the Jack on with it's own switch. On my coach I have a switching box that has it's own antenna amplifier and there is NOT a separate switch for the Jack. Perhaps if two amplifiers are on this is causing the problem.
If you get a whole new Jack ant. then you do not use the old amp. You must use the new one or it wont work.
This is spelled out in the instructions several times.
Since I have had my Jack for a few years, and it is working fine without the power supply that came with it, I have to disagree. Perhaps the Jack has changed but when I got mine, the instructions were to not use the Jack power supply if your old system had the amplifier.
If they did change their system and instructions since I got mine, what does it say about having two amplifiers in the cable going to the Jack?
Here is a copy of the Jack installation instructions.
It clearly says to NOT use both power sources/amplifiers. It says if you use both you can burn up the amplifier.
