The wiring might not be done right. The AGS might not be programmed right. I think there are at least 14 different configurations of generator wiring that it can be programmed too. If it's not set to the right one it won't work.
Do you have the manual for the AGS? If not see if you can download one. You'll need to find the page with the right programming and wiring diagram for your generator. Then, you'll need to verify the wiring and programming are correct.
