Hi all, Has anyone had experience buying their Motor Home long distance using a 3rd party escrow dealer/company to make the deal between the seller / buyer and deliver the motor home to buyer? Not sure just how common this practice is, but then never bought a motor home yet either. Sorry can't help you with personal experience, which of course is what your question is. But: For something as expensive as a new or late model RV, I think I'd be prone to having first hand touchy-feely.

Well as their ares of expertise does not seem to include motorhomes how worthwhile is their service? If they miss something will they indemnify you?For instance how old are the tires? 8 years or above probably need replacing even if lots of tread left. I bet the escrow company does not know this. Will they inspect the awning and make sure all slides work? Nowhere on their page does it tell you what their inspection covers for any type vehicle. An expense with no assurance = a bad dealBetter to go to the location yourself and arrange to take the rig to the appropriate place (cat,Freightliner etc) to get a mechanical inspection and have a mobile repair person inspect the house parts.Then drive it home yourself.How far away is the MH you are thinking of purchasing?

Suggestion:Agree on price, pending "inspection satisfactory to buyer". Specify a date by which written notice will be given as to acceptance/rejection/renegotiation. This allows you or an inspector you choose to inspect the coach. Obviously the sooner the date, the more flexible will be most sellers on price.Inspect/have it inspected. If nothing major, move on to closing. Clear title, easiest is to go to seller's bank. Call your bank and have them wire the money (your banker taking with his banker). Have bank check the title/paperwork and notarize anything that needs that. Once his bank confirms money in his account, he hands you keys and title.If there is a lien on it, have seller get you the name of a contact at his lending institution. You call and verify payoff and work out how to pay. May have your bank draft for title. If a lien, do NOT pay the seller directly. If equity, the lending institution holding title may authorize you to pay seller the equity or may ask that you send them the full amount and they cut check back to seller.Do not know why a 3rd party would be needed to protect either buyer or seller, and can not imagine them doing it for free.Have sold many large boats as well as motorhomes this way. Everyone is protected.

Well there are two choices.1) If you want something done right do it yourself.2) Two heads are better than one.Typically life experience has dictated that #1 has always proven to have better results --- however #2 is better for scruitiny in decisions.

I have dealt with A-Plus, and purchased a virtually new 2014 Class-A at a great deal.

Each coach listing has it's own terms. You can inspect the coach and discuss the details of the financing before making any decisions.

I looked at the Reynolds Group Testimonials page, and then did a Google image search of the pictures. None of them were the names reported, and were all from blogs, business websites, etc. Pictures real, testimonials were not.

I suppose they only need one person to send them a $100K for this scam and they'll pack up and move along and make another website.

At the bottom of the page of the link that you just gave there is a place to click on "fraud Alerts". It covers a lot of what you are experiencing, especially about coaches selling in a distant location and selling far below actual value.
Good luck in your search and the right coach will come along.

Thanks for all the info. I was very, very leery about this whole deal and now just writing it up as a big scam. The whole ordeal was fishy from the start in communicating with the owner.

No I didn't send any money and really wouldn't without seeing it in person. My last e mail to her was that I would fly to Wa. to the dealer to make the deal, but funny thing is she only returns e mails usually around the same time at night and only once a day. Not really unusual I suppose, but if I were trying to sell something of value and had a person interested in it I'd be responding to all their concerns on a timely fashion. Here's the ad that I was responding to and I know it's way, way to cheap for what the coach looked like but figured maybe it was my once in a lifetime deal. lol Chalking this one up, in case anyone is interested in it. lol Oh yeah, the coach isn't in Ct. where I live but in Prince George B.C., and it was her suggestion to use John Reynolds Group in Wa. as an escrow agent, which according to their web page is a motor home dealer. Oh well !

"Third party escrow services" has been an eBay type scam for years. The "third party" is usually the one that started the scam and is the one to take off with the funds.

Your bank WILL NOT wire transfer funds based on a phone call from you UNLESS you have made prior arrangements with them to use this method of wire transfer. This will involve the bank issuing a special account verification number that proves that you are you over the phone.
If you insist on using a third party, use an attorney. Transfer NO money until you have actually seen the coach AND the paperwork to insure that the person selling it actually owns it.
