Question about switching to 6 volt batteries

I need to replace my (2) 12 volt deep cycle house batteries this year and I'm looking at getting 6 volt batteries and setting them in series. I know the Trojan T-105 are great batteries but the Duracell with their lower rating runs about $50 cheaper each.

I don't do any boon dock camping and I use my generator for the fridge and AC when traveling, and since we're always at a campground, I really just need them to initially open the door steps when I go to take it out of storage!

Would the Duracell 205AH for 20hr be sufficient or should I bite the bullet and get he Trojans? Thanks.

  • The way you describe the use of your house batteries, any Quality 6 volt golf cart would probably work fine. Costco has Interstate golf cart batteries at a reasonable cost.

  • I just swapped the 4 Trojan T-105's in my coach last week. The old ones were 5 1/2 years old and were starting to swell and two were getting hot when charging. $97.50 each!
