r vision what happened?

I am now considering buying a 2009 r vision trail lite 29ft B+. I know they went out of business but can't find much info on this rig. Nada doesn't even list it??? Anyone out there know who made this year and model? Was it still r vision? What was the last year r vision was in business?
Where they any good? Do you have one? Any info on this rig would be appreciated. thanks rich

  • A lot of RV manufactures got knocked out during the recession. One bought another just to get bought out itself when it too could not survive.

I recall during that time, there were two forum members who purchased Forest River class C motor homes. They were complaining over poor construction because when they opened a hanging cabinet door, they had sunlight beaming in from the outside, through a gap in the seam where the roof connected to the wall. The warranty solution was "caulk".

I know one independent RV company survived through the recession by attending RV factory liquidation auctions. Phoenix USA bought at auction, a yard full of Sprinter diesel chassis, I think at a shut down Monaco plant, and then offered them for the same price as the E350 for a savings of around $12,000. That was a huge hit which helped the company get through those hard times. I think the chassis were one & two years older than the PC model year which was advertised so.

Even as late as last year they got hold of some E350s with V8 engines in the same manner and offered deep discounts. Independently owned and operated companies have more freedom to do that.

Many RV manufactures fell just like Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, and Mercury. thanks to "The Great Recession".
  • LynnandCarol, that is the sad part of it all.R Vision I am pretty sure never bought faulty material or products,in my case, as it seems to be in the Rv industry, the problem is the terrible workmanship.I am glad you got a good unit.I had one H___ of a time trying to sell mine.I finally traded it in at a dealer and gave him the history of it.It took them almost 2 years to sell it off the lot. What I purchased is not relevant, but I am very happy.
  • We have a 2004 R-Vision 31' Trail-Bay Lite and have full timed in for over 5 years. We still love the trailer and the problems have been minor. We see our model and several others all over the area we are at now!
  • And navistar was purchased by Allied Recreation Group which i believe also bought Fleetwood. We have a 2011 Monaco Montclair which i believe is the Monaco version or the R-Vision, B+ model. i also believe the Montclair was not made after 2012.

We had an R vision travel trailer,2008 and it was by far the least desirable and worst constructed of the many many different makes over the years. We finally with the dealers and manufactures blessing and apologies gave up after 2 years and moved on.Had a nice floor plan, decent material but the workmanship:R
  • i recall the monaco buyout being a bit later than '05.

the holiday rambler augusta b+ is a renamed tl b-plus like mine, and the monaco montclair b+ lineup was for 29' size formerly known as tl b-plus as well.

the trail lites before and after r-vision switched hands seem to be in the average category w/r build.
