MPG is the last statistic you should worry about. There is little difference and not enough to factor into the equation.
Depreciation, maintenance, etc cost more than what you will save in 1-2 MPg savings.
I've had a few of both. A DP will handle and ride better, way better braking in the hills.
They can be pricey when they break.
I have never had a problem getting work done on a DP AT $130 an hour.
I have had problems getting work done on gas coaches many times. Especially in the summer.
