If I were a diesel mechanic and had no worries about repairs other than cost of parts, I would certainly own a DP. I chose a gasser because they are to less expensive to purchase, less to maintain, and fuel cost less. I'm a full timer pulling a Honda crv and my ultra classic Harley, getting 6 to 8.5 mpg depending on terrain. I tend to drive 62 on interstates and 55 on secondary roads. I purchased a 2014 Thor Challenger and really like it, but I move slowly around. I understand the DP guys logic of quiter, more torque, and power, and I might would buy one to if I were on the move a lot and climbing hills often, but I don't so the gasser works fine for me. Boils down to buy what you need, sounds like you need or at least want the DP, go for it!
