Really -- $1,500 for PDI ! Seriously???

It had better be thorough for that kind of money.

Now it's your turn. Tell the salesman you charge $1500 FWC (for writing check)

We bought our coach in Southern California and decided to take a factory delivery of our coach in Coburg, OR. There was a $1,500 up-charge as the factory gave us a tech for two 8 hr. sessions. It was the best money that we ever spent. The tech was very thorough and he spent a solid two 8 hr. days with us.

After purchase and working with our Southern California dealer, they were clueless on so many things. I really wonder where they get some of their help.

Why would you care? The ONLY price you need bother yoursself with is "out the door". If he chooses to charge 1500 for a PDI then just make sure that's INCLUDED in the "out the door" price and use THAT to compare to other deals. If it's the BEST deal on the RV you want you'd be nuts to turn it down because of a "paper work" issue (but I see folks making that recommendation all the time here on the forum). Don't consider how they arrive at the price only what price they arrive at.

For what it's worth, EVERY dealer charges for a PDI but many or smarter than to let you know that. EVERYTHING they do for you is included in their price and TELLING the customer how they plan on splitting it up is just looking for trouble.

skipnchar, I only care for the fact that they would think it wouldn't raise any issues putting the extra price on the rig. Plus it gives them $1,500 to argue over as far as total price.

Gee sir, we gave you a $20,000 discount. Yes, you certainly did and now I want $21,500. But in the long run it only matters as to what I have to give them in actual dollars compared to any other dealer for equal rig.

I was just somewhat dumbfounded that they would try to justify the whole mess.

I would think the PDI would be built into the markup They don't need to disclose thier markup do they

We did a 3000 mile "tour" of the southeast coast while shopping for a motorhome recently. Stopped at our first camping world and it was shocking. Smooth, almost greasy feeling sales staff, and absolute******for inventory. Lots of used coaches priced 20-30K over high retail with obvious delamination, and even one with a collapsing ceiling. Stopped at our second one, and it was a whole other world. Professional salesman, nice inventory, and real world prices. I asked the salesman what the story was with the huge difference is individual stores? He basically said that it was the store manager's show to run as they wish. So in the OP's case, you may find that the $1500 BS is not only pretty easy to negotiate, but the next CW down the road doesn't even attempt that scam.
