but what is a PDI?
Not exactly. It is to go thru the RV and give a complete check out of EVERYTHING, and make sure items work and fix and adjust things. Fill with LP and water and test drive. Motorhomes NOW, are not like they were just 10 years ago. There are all sorts of bells and whistles and cabinets and trim items that are much better than years ago. It takes our PDI men at least 1 full day to go thru a Diesel motorhome and then you have the 2 to 4 hours of delivery to the customer. Most dealers have that cost in the price of the motorhome. Some Manufacturers will charge up to $1500 for factory delivery, to discourage factory delivery. Some, LOW BALL Internet dealers advertise a LOW price for the RV and then add on all these prices because they cannot deliver the RV for that great price without adding on those fees. You CANNOT compare PDI and delivery of a RV with an Automobile. Totally different products.
Contrary to what some believe-----NO MANUFACTURER PAYS A DEALER TO PDI AND PREP AND DELIVER A RV. The $1500 is a very accurate cost to a GOOD dealer for what he incurs in cost to PDI and deliver a Motorhome. Doug
