When we bought our first MH a number of years ago I should have charged the guy who did the PDI walkthrough $1500.00. All he did was scratch his head when asked a question.
His tour was: "well, this is the kitchen area where you cook your meals" and "this is the dining table where you eat" and this is a bed and on and on.
I think I had the same guy. I had to tell him how the levers in the plumbing compartment worked.
We had a salesman tell us that a rig we were looking at came with an "emaciator". I said that I was already thin enough and walked away leaving him scratching his head.
A few days later we bought our current rig from another dealership from a much more knowledgeable salesman.
I just gave up trying to find knowledgeable sales people. I did the research myself and just figured out things on my own. Sales people will tell you what they think you want to hear.
When I was doing my final walk through on the motorhome when we turned the water pump on it would cycle every few seconds. When I asked the salesman and the guy from the shop doing the walk through about it, they both told me that was normal and that you should only turn the pump on when you actually wanted to use water and then turn it off. I looked at both and told them I didn't want the motorhome if that were the case. They fell all over themselves trying to tell me how it was normal. I told them it wasn't normal and it meant there was a leak in the system someplace because I had already checked to make sure all the valves were off. They insisted I was wrong. We went out to the plumbing compartment to look and I was wrong, there was no leak, it was just a valve in the wrong position. When the salesman put water in the tank he left the inlet valve in in the wrong position which caused water to backflow and caused the pump to cycle every few seconds. So I put the valve in the correct position and the pump stopped cycling so I looked at both of them and asked them to explain again how this was normal? They couldn't.
