You might consider commercial grade carpet squares or "tiles". The material is tough as nails, easy to clean, warm underfoot, but not squishy like typical carpet pad. The rubber backing is waterproof, and it acts to quiet the coach noise while OTR. It's easy to fit and cuts quickly with a sharp utility knife and framing square. Carpet dealers will sometimes have a bunch of squares leftover from a commercial job and are glad to get it out of the warehouse for a buck a tile. Buy all you think you might need as there may be no going back. Either glue it down with a pressure-sensitive adhesive or use double sided indoor/outdoor carpet tape.
