Refrigerator

I have been looking into what my refrigerator is not working. If a frig looses its charge I understand why it will not work, but if it still has its charge why does it not work. The 3 liquids and the 1 gas cannot form a solid to plug or corrode the tubes. Can someone tell who this happens, and what part of the frig does it happen.

Thanks

  • I've had a similar issue with my refer. The refer was ~14yrs old. Just died on a weekend trip. Gas would light, No issues with 110v or 12v. Got some gurgling, chimney got hot and didn't see any yellowing effect or smell any thing. Decided to pull fridge and found that the leak was in the chimney and found a ton of yellow staining. Once I got the fridge out, boy did it STINK!! My guess is that the ammonia made its way up the chimney due to a draft effect. Simple but costly repair.....Replace refer.

  • I had it plugged in for 2 days. I can hear a trickling or gurgling sound.
  • How long plugged in?

    IS the electric element hot?

Have you tried it on propane?

'Hear a sound like water trickling'..........kinda like a gurgling sound? that would mean a blocked/plugged cooling unit.

  • The frig is a Dometic RM2804. The 12 volt is connected and on. The unit is hot and running on 110 volt. I can hear a sound like water trickling. No cooling at all in side the box. I see no yellow stain, but I haven't removed the unit from the wall. I also do not smell any ammonia. I believe there is no to show the unit it just working. I just bought the rig that was donated to a charity. I was told that everything was working. That was wrong. It had not been tagged sense 2006. I had to pay $1,300.00 for the tags.

    Thanks for the help

  • What brand/model of fridge?

    What does it do?

    What does it NOT do?

DO you have 12V DC power to fridge?

    Are the panel lights ON?

Lots of reasons fridge doesn't work.....some simple, some a little tougher some cause it died.

Tell us more and might get help

Here is a basic absorption fridge diagram

  • The chromate rust inhibitor used in RV absorption refrigerators can crystallize and plug the tubing if the unit is allowed to run too hot as can occur when the fridge is allowed to run while off level. The photo below shows a cut-away percolator tube that's plugged with crystallized chromate.
