No problems with rubbing.The tent poles extend to 8 feet tall.If your top is anything like my last van then you could attach to your bungee loops.My Dodge even had 3 metal loops attached to the roof of the van but both would have required a step ladder to get up to.Pop your top and investigate.I bought poles at Wal-Mart as well as the weights.Rope,tent pegs and tarps at Harbor Freight tools.Best thing about this awning is that if it gets ruined it's no big deal.I wish my current van didn't have the bag awning that came with it.I would use the old set-up in a heartbeat.
