Last year I tried using a brass plugged tapped for 1/4" pipe, I was going to fit a radiator type petcock valve for easy draining.
The brass plug wouldn't thread in.
I haven't given up. Need to check my tap set, I think I have a 1/4" pipe tap, I'll just drill and tap the existing white plastic or Teflon or whatever plug. I hate unscrewing that thing and taking a bath.
