I did replace the plastic plug with a brass one from camping world that has a drain cock similar to a car radiator drain, at least now I do not need a wrench to drain.
Atwood require a nylon plug. Pretty soon you will not be able to remove that brass one. Water passing over two different metals creates galvanic corrosion. They are nylon for a reason.
When I had an Attwood I carried and extra plug and a sprinkler nipple remover in case I broke one off or gummed it up too much to get a socket on it. Drill a hole in the broken plug and screw out with nipple remover.
Brass will work OK.............T&P Relief valve is brass
Atwood doesn't recommend using anything but Nylon plug due to lack of proper cleaning of tank.
Folks have a tendency of not flushing tank when they install a petcock type drain...which has a small drain.
Dang drain hole is only 1/2" to begin with.
