I have kept detailed records of repair,mods and maintenance costs over a 10 year period of ownership. I bought a used MH for $30k put on 80,000 miles 8k /year and spent $12k or $1200/year. The MH is worth 1/2 of what I paid for it so if you add depreciation that equates to 12k plus 15k or $2,700 per year. So 2 rentals a year at $1500 would be about $3000 per year. So to me if you plan on renting more that 3 times a year or the equivalent of $4500 in rental fees, then it would make more sense to buy a used unit. Having said all that you also have to consider how much time you have to maintain a used MH if you still work.
