Replace front air bags

I really need to replace the air bags in my front springs. I have read that it's not very difficult. I have a 1990 Chevrolet P30 chassis, Mallard 28. Any ideas on what air bags I need. I have been looking it up and from what I can see I need a 10.5 long by 3.44 wide air bag on each side. Is this correct?

  • Yea, I think I get it now. Anything in the approximately 3.5 inch wide will work. There are two brands that have slightly different widths 3.44 or 3.56. Both get good reviews and both are being used on GM P30 chassis. Thanks. I don't want to use the hoses that come with the kit as they seem like more of a liability than they are worth and I don't mind climbing under the motorhome from time to time to service the air bags. I see that every parts chain sells these things. I suspect that I'll stop by O'Reilly's on the way to work in the morning and order a set. Hopefully they will have them by Saturday. We always take the RV for Christmas travel.
  • It's not difficult if you are handy working on cars and trucks. The bags in the link are the correct size.
  • The link shows 10.5 long by 3.56 wide. Is that correct? I keep coming up with different widths on the air bag. 3.56 makes more sense than 3.44.

    Here is Firestone units.
    Firestone air bags

BUT if you decide to stick with bags shop price. Also call the manufacturer before buying new. The bags SUPPOSEDLY have a lifetime warranty
