Let's be clear
Can you power the RV from a portable generator ... Yes
Just use the shore cord an plug into the genny
Can you install the portable In the oem compartment to replace the Onan
That is a whole other can of worms
First off, a 6kw portable probably won't fit in the space
Second is ventilation, removal of all the heat created, which is a safety issue
Third is fuel supply
Fourth is the Noise issue,
I handled this (in the previous RV) by building a slide out tray in one of the storage bays
Mounting a 3000w champion inverter generator , on the tray, and plugging in the 30 amp shore cord
Slits it Out for use when camped,
inside and off, while traveling
The electrical is not the big issue, that's why I did not dwell on it, in my earlier post
If you have the cash, repairing the Onan is the best option
A smaller genny setup for safety and ease of use, second option
A large open frame crammed into the oem compartment, worst possible idea
