I have restrung our blinds several times over the years. I use Kite String from Walmart !
As far as cleaning goes this too is doable !
I soak them in a tub of warm water with some liquid detergent . I use the home bathtub .
Then air dry !
The rig is old enough to vote !
Oh by the way I replaced all those plastic spools with Stainless Steel Sewing Machine Bobbins!
