Replacing slide awning fabric. Need options.

Hi everyone! I just picked up a 1999 holiday rambler endeavor CDS4 38' diesel pusher. This thing is in great shape, but the fabric over top of the slide (13'4" slide, material is 13'2" wide) is torn bad enough to need replaced. Where is the best, cheapest place to buy the fabric? I can install it myself, just need the correct size. Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks everyone. I will be making a few calls and getting it ordered today. I will keep you updated how much it cost and how bad it was for me to install.

There are several materials that awnings are made from. Vinyl being the most common and cheapest. If you go with vinyl there is two processes used to mfg the vinyl. One is hot rolled and the other is cold rolled. The hot rolled will last longer without delaminating, the colded rolled will have a tendency to delaminate and collect water between the laminations.
  • I went to a local awning/tent maker shop and took my originals and they duplicated them and I re-installed. 2 slides cost about $275.
  • I have purchased from rvawningsmart.com.

They delivered what I ordered quickly and the product was great.

The fabric replacement should be an easy to moderate install with two people. Three people is even better.

    Good luck
  • I just got a local awning shop to make what I needed. I took the old fabric there and they just copied the measurements. The slide I changed was 12' wide and I did it myself. Not the easiest but it can be done by yourself. I also had to change a spring that was broken at the same time.
  • I just helped a friend replace both his slide covers last weekend on a Monaco. It's a 2 person job but was not a big deal at all. As for using the manufacturer material, it was rotted beyond belief for an 8 year old coach. He found Toughtop Awnings (same as Old Guy's) that custom built new covers with much heavier UV resistant material and it actually fit better than the Carefree OEM.

  • tough top awning.com is a very good company to buy from. he is retired and supplementing his income with selling awning fabric. it is heavy duty and better than OME. I bought some and it is cheaper than what it would cost to buy from a RV dealer. You can go to U tube and type in RV geeks awning replacement, they tell you how to measure to buy and also how to install. I bought mine and I got both slide awnings cheaper than I could buy just one from a dealer.
