Does it look like this?

This one's called Roadmaster RSSC which I think means Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer (Class) C
If yours is different, please send a pic or link.
I put these parts in three categories:
1. Damper - This is a horizontal shock absorber like E-Series OEM part, Monroe and Bilstein replacements. They resist "bump steer" but do not exert any centering force. This one's from Rancho but it's still just a shock
2. Centering - Uses springs to force steering toward center. Steer Safe is the common one.
It's a collection of springs and brackets that looks like something I'd build in my garage but it's been around for years and many swear by it. Still, all it does is CENTER. No bump steer control. IF you have clearance to mount one WITH a Damper then you get the next category:
3. Stabilizer - These are Damper and Centering in ONE unit. The popular one is Safe T Plus
It looks like a Damper but it's bigger, and Centering Springs are hidden inside. The Roadmaster competitor RSS (above) is the same idea, but it uses one exposed spring instead of S-T-P with two hidden ones. These help center the steering AND they resist bump steer from ridges, potholes, etc.
If I were to get one, it'd be S-T-P (the "140" silver version with 140 pounds pressure to center Class C steering) **OR** RSSC. Be aware: Neither will bolt into where an OEM Ford Damper came off! Both brands require a Bracket Kit. This pic is only an example of what the one for your chassis might contain:
