msmith1199,
THAT'S why I do as much as the work on our coach as I possibly can. You see, you learn, you do. Not many (I'd bet if any) have been on their roof as much as I have on mine. Our roof has been entirely cleaned, buffed, rubbed out and waxed. All the while, doing as thorough of an inspection as possible, on each and every joint, seal, vent cover, fan cover etc. the more you're up there, the more you're at ease with it but, you still have to be careful.
Here's a small hint on another way to make many of the vent covers, fan covers, fridge vent covers last a bit longer too. Take a commercial heat gun, (not a hair dryer) and very carefully start heating up a chalky, grainy plumbing vent cover. It will eventually started to turn glossy. When the whole thing is glossy, you're done. It will remain like that for quite some time.
It sort of "Rejuvenates" the chemical compounds used in the making of the vent covers etc. And, it makes them more pliable as another benefit. Plus, the clear or semi-clear (blue, smoke gray etc.) ones keep their translucency. Just an idea.
