Question has been pretty much answered with what you would see on an oscilloscope, but story short, certain sophisticated electronic devices, such that may be found in a fancy residential ice maker don't get along all that well with a MSW and could ruin the ice maker.
However, we've run ours and in our RV type Dometic OEM for some years, with no ill effects. Something isn't right with it, right now, but most sure it has nothing to do with the source type of power.
