My light E450 (door sticker says 9900lbs empty) does indeed ride hard. Actually drives better with a heavy enclosed trailer hitched up. I have done some chassis add-ons like a Hellwig front sway bar, and originally Bilstien shocks all-around. I was not happy with the floaty low-speed valving of the digressive Bilsteins, and replaced the fronts with a pair of Monroe Magnum RV shocks, which were silly cheap and being a consistent firm shock way better. After 7 years the original steering stabilizer got swapped for a parts store Monroe unit too. I also just replaced the OEM Michelin LTX's with Coopers, not really wanting to pay the Bibendum tax. So far so good there too after 3500 miles. It generally drives pretty good for what it is.
