Our van mattress has 4" of latex in it which is 38 ILD (firmness rating). Our home one is 6" of foam of 41 ILD (firmer). They both are on plywood bases, and feel nearly identical because the thinner mattress is softer. Thickness reduces firmness. Neither of ours bottoms out, but we are max 170#. Good latex mattresses generally have much less tendency to develop a memory dent than innerspring ones do. Ours has a lifetime guarantee against sagging or deterioration.
