Hot water heat on the new E-trek is from an on-demand electric hot water heater which is not a new innovation for RVs. I am not sure about the heat but suspect that it is electric heat - forced fan hot air furnace.
The engine generator as described by Jim Hammill at RT runs the diesel vehicle engine as a generator and will fully charge the eight AGM battery bank in forty minutes. The optional EFOY system requires replacement fuel cells which I have read are not easily available which is a drawback unless they are now going to be more easily found.
There are a lot of good concepts that have gone into this new model including standard solar power which as described does not need direct sunlight but just daylight to charge the battery bank. The A/C is said to be able to run on one battery bank charge with the inverter all day.
