This came in the middle of a long running discussion on a Sprinter board of solar additions and having to add oil (or not). He had asked some Sprinter shops (Dodge and Freightliner) about the topic of idling. He was confused by the fact that the answers he got ranged from "only for short periods" to those that said "until it runs out of gas." That is why he went to an MB dealer... who was just as confused by the answers. They queried MB America... who referred the question to MB Germany... and this is the written answer that they got back.
So... it is not an online answer with a handy/dandy link... it was a personal message to a Sprinter owner from MB Germany.
Of course, he could be lying... but not sure why he would want to... He is regular helpful poster, not a troll.
Anyway, I don't think that Roadtrek is suggesting that you park it for a month and just run it a half hour a day. My take is that it is a back-up for that rainy day when the solar can't keep up with your usage.
