What I'd do is high (fan) cool, but not with full thermostat. Try to find a place where the thermostat kicks it off when the RV interior temp is in mid 70s. Every one of these cycles is a break where any ice could melt. Also with the return air at higher temp, the evaporator is at a higher temp.
