I tried it with just the house AC. I was miserable too. I might still run the genny/house AC while underway if its really hot. Sometimes just to exercise the genny.
Somebody on another forum put it to me something like this: Most will never run their motorhomes to the point where mileage/use on the chassis will do them in. Most will have a chassis with relatively light mileage, some will have incredibly light mileage. The manufacturer put a AC unit in the chassis that was meant to work. In the case of the Ford E350 and E450, some of these ACs run all day long in ambulances and utility vehicles. So let the damned thing rip and don't worry about it. It was made to perform a function, so just let it. The chassis/engine combo was made to handle it.
So now I turn the dial, feel the cold air, and smile as I go along my way. Which was sorta the whole point of owning one of these, right?
