Running tires lower than Micheline spec ?

We got weighed at Escapees in Livingston , Texas. Subsequently I set the tire pressure according to the Michelin table. The back tires felt great but the front felt a little squirrelly so I dropped them by 5lbs psi and it drives much better.

Other than tire wear, is there and danger or disadvantage to running the tires a little bit low?

  • How did your front and back weight ratio work out? Many rigs like yours have water tanks well towards the back, and of course that can make the front feel light. Loading into the compartments at the back can also affect handling.

You could try a new steering stabilizer shock perhaps. One time that made a huge difference for me.

New tires can be a little bit squirrley at first. I would go back to what the chart calls for.

Absolutely! Lower pressure induces higher running temperatures...which can lead to tire failure. SOP is to run tires 5% higher than Michelin recommendations as a safety factor.
