Running with air

How many of you run with your house air using your generator? We are planning a trip to the Midwest in a couple weeks and the dash air doesn't work. Hasn't for some time, no one can find the problem and besides, it doesn't cool the coach.

  • Ran from coast to coast with the roof A/C and generator running.. It is designed to do that.. Benefits of owning a Class A ...
  • We will certainly use the roof air when needed. Our coach has what they call 'driver's air' with an auxiliary unit for the passenger which works quite well.

We can also run all four units without the generator as we have four inverters. But, the generator needs to be run and exercised so I'll turn on the generator for that purpose.

I like the inside of the coach cool when we stop for the day, it makes everything so much more comfortable.

    x2
  • We use the gen for the air even if my coach air works,i set the front air only to keep cool,it doesn't use that much gas,.but i always keep the tank at least 3/4 full.
  • Should be nothing wrong with running genset at 70mph, but I experienced that driving motion can make strange air flows and the heat from rear engine can end up in center storage on my old conversion.
Depends what system you have, you might want to consider using big inverter and alternator. I did that on my conversion and it works as a charm, but conversion is having like 7000W alternator.
  • Here inTexas I do it all the time. Crank the generator and the AC and head down the road.
