After the praise that the local highway patrol gave about the cable system in the original article for this accident, I would expect to see more use of cables, at least in that state.
The outcome to me, since the vehicle ended up crossing opposing lanes of traffic, was unacceptable, but the officers seem to think it performed well. Go figure??????
Since the cable barrier FAILED to keep the vehicle out of opposing traffic (which is it's designed purpose) and SUCCEEDED in destabilizing and contributing to a rollover IMO the officer quoted was defending the interests of the state. As in avoiding accountability for installing safety equipment that clearly did not perform.
