RV Covers

We need to store our Phoenix Crusier 2100 (it's sold as a B+, but it pretty much a C without the cab over) and want some input on the pros and cons of having a cover. The only affordable storage within a reasonable distance is outside only and living in the St. Louis, MO metro area our weather can be anything from mild to ice/snow laden and frigid. Our RV will most likely be in storage for up to 5 months during the winter.
Are covers worth the cost and hassle? And if so, which ones are worthwhile? What do you use? What's the best in your opinion? How can I assure a good fit best?

Thanks
  • Curious about those who cover without stepping on the roof...is it bad to go up there?
  • We use a Arco cover, it's "water resistant" and will shed water. But if I was going to buy a new cover, I would rather have one that is water PROOF. They are more, but I feel worth it. My class C is 32ft bumper to bumper. And the cover is not that easy to get on the roof. Once on the roof it's easy enough to get it set
  • We purchased an Adco cover for our 5er from Camping World in 2009.
While I was skeptical about how it would last it has lasted siince the winter of 2009//2010.
It is relatively easy to install and remove. Our winters are anywhere from 5 degrees Celsius above to 15 below with anywhere upwards of 3 feet of snow average.
The cover has performed well and is still in prime shape.
The big bonus is that it protects the 5er from the harsh winter elements, snow, sleet, sun, etc.
If you don't have covered or inside winter storage a cover is well worth the cost and effort IMHO.
  • Well worth it.
After 13 years of use I'm getting almost 50% more for our TT on trade in because of the condition it is in.
Withthe new trailer we will be having a carport type roof installed to cover it and keep the sun of the south side of it.
  • I too can cover my tt myself without getting on the roof. The trailer and cover are both 6 years old. I cover during the winter months only. The trailer looks new and the cover is only just starting to show minimal wear. It is an Adco cover.
  • I cover my TT and believe it worth the cost and hassle. I am able to cover and remove it alone without getting on the roof using my collapsable ladder but my TT max height is 121 inches (AC).
