RV Hire Companies that don't have pre-paid mileage?

Hi,

Just Joined.
Been travelling Europe in motorhome's hired from McRent in Gemany for the past six years for durations up to 7-8 weeks.
Decided to do a rv trip across Canada and hit a snag where by you need to prepurchase milage, this is entirley new to us as the purpose of motorhomes is the freedom of where to go and for how long.
Our last trip in Europe June 2014 we did 6,620kms and paid for diesel as required.
My question is -- are there any motorhome hire companys in Canada that don't charge for a per kilometer basis up front.

Thanks Gazza
  • I found a great deal a couple of years ago through www.motorhomebookers.com. We rented from a Fraserway subsidiary called Four Seasons. It was their older camper. The deal included unlimited miles, insurance, linens, pots and pans etc. It was a class B Okanagan for something like $800 for close to three weeks. They no longer rent that camper, and that was a really fabulous deal, but there are other deals to be had, especially at Fraserway and Four Seasons, if you click around on the motorhomebookers website. Look for the Early Bookers Special. I have no complaints whatsoever about either motorhomebookers or Fraserway, and we like the B size so much we bought a 1995 Pleasureway a year ago.

We've rented from several companies over the years, and I'd put this experience at a tie with Alpha campers in New Zealand.

There are many companies in Canada that rent but one seems to cater to tourist from other countries, they even have offices in Australia. Apollo Rental may be able to help you out. I do not know their policy for mileage but you might give them a call and find out.

    Good Luck.

Apollo is an Australian Motorhome Rental company, that has branched out to the US/Canada and South Africa

  • Probably a safety net for the rental company. Sort of like putting up a security deposit when you rent a vacation home and it would be adjusted when you return the unit. I'm sure they have been stuck more than once over the years and I would do the same if it was my company. If they are a reputable company you have nothing to worry about.
