I have found that in most areas of the country, I can pick up the local network channels with my over the air crank up antenna.
Since my satellite service is out of Maryland, I have a large cone of service area that includes all, and part of, 13 different states. Within that cone, I can receive all of the local Maryland network channels with my satellite. Outside of that cone, I receive all of the normal DirecTV channels but no network channels.
