RV SWAY

I drive a 2013 gas 35 foot class A Fleetwood Bounder. I have only been on one 3 month trip. The RV seems to drift some when passed by large trucks. I can control it, but it gets tiring to drive. I am interested in options on the anti-sway bars or shock-stearing stabilization. What is the difference in how they work, does it help, is it worth it? Thanks for your feedback.

  • I am installing a SuperSteer rear track bar on my MH - hopefully this weekend. Do a search and you will see other solutions.

I have a Blue OX on the front that helped some.

Also, I just added Bilstein shocks. I will weigh and check air pressure before the next trip.

^^^^^ same here and our rig was purchased new in 2013. Stock shocks were junk. But still considering a Blue Ox true center to take the fight out of her.

  • In order:

Correct tire inflation based on actual weights.

    Rear track bar.

Polyurethane sway bar bushings and change rear bar end link location for more resistance to sway.
  • We experience some of the same moving action with our coach. Was horribly bad with our previous coach which was a Class C. With that unit we replaced the OEM springs with Bilsteins and replaced the rear anti-sway bar with a heavier duty one. Made a HUGE difference!
We are looking to put Suomi on our 36' Class A gasser.
  • I installed Roadmaster anti sway bar front and rear, Blue Ox rear track bar, modified factory rear anti sway (called CHF), Steersafe on steering (several brands on the market), Firestone Riderite air bags rear. Works for me. BTW my MH is 34' 22K chassis.
  • Mod, Please move out of FTS.

Although I drive a TT, my GFs Father drives tour busses, and he gets pushed a bit from the wake of large vehicles. It is all part of the game.
