Sounds like it's kind the same thing as we have in NV. There is a government services tax on vehicles. My first year here in 2010 after moving from ID it was close to $3,000 for the coach. Last year it was ~$2,500. We don't have state income tax and the property tax and insurance on the sticks and bricks is about the same, so bottom line net, we're paying about the same as we did in ID.
