Did they give you a detailed estimate or just the total price?
Details include they will list the parts, cost of each, hours of labor X cost of each hour? then they add all that together with the local sales tax, and shipping cost of the parts, ect.
I guess it would take me about 6 - 8 hours to complete that sort of job, and most shops do charge something like $75 - 95 per hour. So it does not seem to outrageous to me. I did install a replacement condenser on a Country Coach. It was under the front of the coach, near the generator.
An alternative to repairing the A/C is to run the generator and roof air. It will work find, perhaps better? Especially if you have dual A/C units. When climbing mountain grades, I would run both the dash air and roof air. Sometimes even have a 9" 120 volt desktop fan blowing on me, while it sat on the floor.
