He said at "some campgrounds" meaning more than one. So unless he is just unlucky the problem is probably in the RV! That narrows the area somewhat. The surge protector that also monitor high/low voltage is a real possibility. Either he is unlucky again or it's the Power protection system. My 03 was a high end and it didn't even have a surge protector. I installed it in mine. If not that then I say again, it might be the shore side of the transfer switch. A bad relay could give intermittent indications. Remember there are two relays in the TS. One operates Genny power and one for shore power. The genny side works and the genny side is usually the default. OP, next time it happens you could also bang on the transfer switch box with your hand a few times. That may help...or may not!
